Greetings, I'm Jake, Founder and Co-Owner of Dinkum Collective.

I first came up with the idea of Dinkum a few years ago when my family and I visited the Eumundi Markets, purchasing a super cool and unique book page cutout from a local vendor. Some time later, we wanted to purchase another similar item but we had no way of finding the creator again.

That’s when the idea of Dinkum Collective came to me. A place that brings markets online from across Australia, while still keeping the relaxed ‘Sunday market vibe’. A one-stop shop where Australians can easily discover unique, locally made products from market vendors, no matter where they’re located. That’s how Dinkum Collective was created.

The name ‘Dinkum’ comes from the Aussie slang “Fair Dinkum,” meaning genuine or true, which I believe perfectly represents local markets. They’re built on authenticity, creativity and small everyday Australians just simply having a crack.

I’m excited to see the progress of Dinkum Collective as we work toward making it easier for market vendors to sell online, and more accessible for Australians to discover and support their favourite local market brands 😁

Hi👋- I'm Ella, Entrepreneur and Co-Owner of Dinkum Collective.

Jake and I have created a platform that connects market stall vendors with the Australian community, making it easier than ever to shop and support small local businesses.

Having experienced market life firsthand through my own business, I understood the challenges vendors faced each weekend. Dinkum Collective was created to give all products a 24/7 online presence, without the hassle of setup, pack-down and unpredictable weather.

It also provides the chance for customers to explore unique finds, create new connections and experience different local Sunday markets from the comfort of our own homes. No matter the day, no matter our circumstances, we have the opportunity to shop small.

I'm so excited to bring Dinkum to life and make supporting local simpler 💚

The Current Stage of Dinkum Collective and Our Future Plans

Dinkum Collective is currently at an exciting stage of growth. Recently, Ella joined as a business partner, marking an important step forward. Ella will focus on the front-end of Dinkum, including social media, vendor relationships and community engagement, while Jake manages the back-end development and overall platform functionality.

We have now begun development of the platform, which will include a multi-vendor cart, allowing customers to purchase products from multiple vendors in a single transaction. This is a key feature designed to make shopping across different market brands simple and convenient, while still supporting individual vendors.

As we begin promoting Dinkum through social media, alongside physically attending markets and distributing flyers, we have introduced a waitlist. Customers will be able to browse vendor products, but purchases will be unavailable until launch. Instead, users can join the waitlist, helping us build a strong customer base ahead of launch. Once Dinkum goes live, waitlist users will automatically be invited to sign up and begin purchasing.

In the meantime, our focus is on expanding our vendor network to ensure a diverse and exciting range of products ready for launch. Over the short term, we aim to continue growing both our vendor base and customer waitlist, while refining the platform to ensure a smooth and successful launch. Our goal is to create strong early momentum, giving vendors immediate exposure and customers a wide range of unique Australian market products from day one.
